Own production of polypropylene in region made it possible to save small enterprises from import dependence

Akbobek Shargabayeva, Head of the Industry Department of the Department of Industrial and Innovative Development of the region, told about this, the Regional Communications Service reports.

“The launch of a plant for the production of polypropylene in the region on the territory of the SEZ "National Industrial Petrochemical Technopark" had a great impact on resolving the issue of import dependence for small enterprises. For example, the enterprises "Kashhim", "Polymer Production", engaged in the production of products from polypropylene, entered into an agreement with LLP "Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries Inc" for the purchase of polypropylene chips. As a result, they were able to get rid of import dependence and produce 100% Kazakhstani products,” A. Shargabayeva said.

Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries Inc LLP, processing associated gas obtained from TCO, produces up to 500 thousand tons of polypropylene per year. At the second stage of the project, it is planned to produce polyethylene products. Today, 632 people are involved in the production of polypropylene. In addition, about one thousand people work in contractor organizations.

In addition to local enterprises, the plant supplies products for export, the volume of which since the beginning of the year has amounted to about 45 thousand tons of polypropylene. In the domestic market, contracts have been concluded with 35 companies. In addition, three off-take contracts were signed for the supply of goods to China and the CIS countries.
