Akim of Atyrau region Serik Shapkenov instructed to use additional equipment to speed up snow removal due to a sharp deterioration in weather conditions. Thus, about 70 pieces of equipment with specialists started cleaning the streets of the regional center and adjacent microdistricts. Serik Shapkenov wrote about this on his personal page on the social network.

“According to weather forecasters, today from 8 am to 8 pm snow fell in the city in the amount of the monthly norm (12 mm).

Due to the heavy snowfall, the movement of both transport and pedestrians was difficult. Due to a short circuit caused by snow getting into electrical networks, residents of some microdistricts were left without electricity. Currently, emergency teams are gradually connecting electricity. The responsible institution fully regulates this issue.

The situation is under my personal control. On my instructions, large contractors in the field of construction and road works are now involved in the region. The companies allocated special equipment for cleaning the streets. As a result, about 70 pieces of equipment started cleaning the streets of the city and the suburban area. The implementation of these works is entrusted to the akim of the city. I express my gratitude to the employees of public utilities who have been working for several days, despite the negative temperature,” S. Shapkenov said.
