The European Union is one of the main economic and trade partners of our country. The head of the region, Serik Shapkenov, noted that trade, economic and investment relations are one of the most important areas of cooperation, and also expressed his readiness to support the projects presented by the delegation, which are important for the Atyrau region.
“Taking into account the instructions of the Head of State Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev regarding the development of agriculture, fisheries, healthcare and education in the Atyrau region, we are ready to work closely with the EU countries for their implementation. There is a special economic zone in our region, where the most favorable conditions for investors are created. In the future, we plan to develop the production of polyethylene and butadiene. Therefore, I am ready to support projects that are important for the population of the region,” S. Shapkenov said.
During the meeting, the Ambassador of the European Union and members of the delegation noted that there is a great opportunity to modernize the transport and logistics industry, develop industrial infrastructure and a green economy in the Atyrau region.
“This is my first trip to the Atyrau region. I really want to see one of the local attractions - a bridge connecting Asia and Europe. The arrival of the delegation in this region, the growth of trade turnover, the active work of many companies in the Kazakh market with the conclusion of contracts is a clear indicator of the good development of bilateral relations. All member countries of the European Union are the largest investment partners of Kazakhstan. Today, many states visiting Kazakhstan are ready to share their knowledge, technologies and make investments. And it's not just about the four industries that you mentioned, but also about others in which our specialists have extensive experience,” K. Jankauskas said.
The foreign trade turnover of the Atyrau region with the EU countries in January-September 2022 amounted to 14.4 billion US dollars. Of these, exports - 14.1 billion US dollars, imports - 269.02 million US dollars.
