June 17, Nur-Sultan. Serik Shapkenov, Akim of Atyrau region, announced this during the parliamentary hearings.
Today, the Mazhilis held parliamentary hearings on the topic "Prospects for the Development of the Water Industry in Kazakhstan" in the light of the implementation of the Address of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Speaking to the deputies, Serik Shapkenov said that due to the annual shallowing of the Zhaiyk and Kigash rivers, as well as siltation of their channels, the issue of clearing them is acute.
"Delaying this issue may lead to the suspension of the reproduction of fish stocks in the Caspian Sea. Mouths of rivers and channels are the place of passage of fish to natural spawning grounds for reproduction. In addition, it should be taken into account that shallowing does not allow all fishing and transport vessels to go to sea," the Akim of the region noted.
