"Akim of Atyrau region Makhambet Dosmukhambetov met with Atyrau athletes who won tickets to the Summer Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in Tokyo - Zhansel Deniz, Nurlan Dombayev, Yerzhan Salimgereyev - and wished them success in the upcoming press tournament," the press service of the regional akim reports.

At a meeting with athletes, the head of the region noted that obtaining a license and participating in the Olympics is already a great success.

"I sincerely congratulate Nurlan, Yerzhan and Zhansel on the tickets to the Tokyo Olympics! In total, over the years of independence, our fellow countrymen have won two Olympic awards: the bronze medal of the Beijing Olympics in 2008 was awarded to the taekwondo fighter Arman Chilmanov, and the weightlifter Nidzhat Rakhimov won the gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. These achievements are the pride of not only Atyrau, but the whole of Kazakhstan. I am sure that you will continue the victorious traditions and return with success!" Makhambet Dosmukhambetov said.

Also akim of the region noted that the coaches' great merits in the achievements of athletes and thanked them.

In turn, the athletes who received Olympic licenses expressed their gratitude to the head of the region for their honor and trust. Zhansel Deniz, who is undergoing training in Almaty, due to quarantine restrictions, took part in the online meeting.

Nurlan Dombayev's personal trainer Assan Kassayev assured that the athletes will make every effort to justify the trust placed in them in action.

At the end of the meeting, the athletes and their coaches were awarded letters of thanks from the head of the region and cash certificates.

It should be reminded that parataequondist, two-time world champion Nurlan Dombayev and Yerzhan Salimgereyev in parasailing received tickets to the Paralympics in Tokyo from the Atyrau region, and taekwondo athlete Zhansel Deniz won another ticket to the Olympic tournament.
