Agricultural development helps to stabilize prices

The head of the region, Makhambet Dosmukhambetov, spoke about the possibility of stabilizing prices through the development of agriculture, the Communications Service of Atyrau region reports.

At the meeting chaired by the head of the region, the head of the Department of Agriculture Amangeldy Salamat made a detailed report on the state of the industry, especially on the preparation for the spring sowing season.

"In the region, attention is paid to drip irrigation technology, which contributes to increasing yields. This year, we plan to increase the area of crops using drip irrigation technology by 161 hectares and bring it up to 3,167 hectares, increase the use of rainwater irrigation technology by 80 hectares and bring it up to 776 hectares," Amageldy Salamat reported.

According to the head of the department, 390 agricultural structures with 1,600 workers will be involved in sowing work in the region this year. In addition, 862 units of tractors and other agricultural machinery are fully ready for the spring seasonal field work.

At the meeting, akim of the region Makhambet Dosmukhambetov gave a number of instructions regarding the industry.

"There are enough places in the region for the development of agriculture, not limited to the oil and gas industry. The rivers Ural, Uil, Zhem in the region provide great opportunities for the development of irrigated crop production. It is necessary to effectively use these conditions and consider the mechanisms for the implementation of new projects in the direction of intensification of crop production. Through this, we will be able to develop the industry, ensure food security. Also, by increasing the production of our own agricultural products instead of imported ones, we will create an opportunity to stabilize prices. This is one of our main tasks," M. Dosmukhambetov noted.

Also, the regional akim pointed out the need for priority coverage of the local population when mastering the scope of work in the industry.

As the head of the department noted, local residents show no interest, although they are invited to work. He informed that a permit has been obtained for five hundred foreign citizens to cross the border to engage in seasonal work, since without them there is a risk of not receiving the planned products.

The head of the region instructed to gradually resolve this issue.

Also, according to the head of the department, this year 262 million tenge has been allocated to support agricultural producers in the form of a subsidy. In addition, several agricultural enterprises of the region participated in the seminar - exhibition in the city of Astrakhan, having concluded agreements on seeds, technology, plant protection products.

It should be noted that this year 14 irrigation systems of the Kazsushar institution will irrigate 9.5 thousand hectares of the cultivated areas of the region.
