Dredging and cleaning riverbeds, lakes, and canals continues in Atyrau region. The project is being implemented to ensure water security in the region, restore the ecosystem, and improve fish migration.
According to the regional construction department, 87% of the 95-kilometer riverbed in the Zhylyoi district has been cleared. Within the city limits, work is fully completed. One of the major projects was the deepening of the Zhaiyk River delta: 8.5 kilometers out of 10 kilometers have been cleared.
"Today, the region prioritizes deepening rivers and canals to increase water flow capacity. These works help prevent spring floods, protect settlements, and preserve the ecosystem. Furthermore, dredging projects contribute to an increase in fish stocks and have a positive impact on the natural environment. "All planned work will be completed by the end of the year," Talgat Bissen, Deputy Head of the Department of Construction, Architecture, and Urban Development of Atyrau region, noted.
Currently, cleanup continues at the Sokolok, Kyzylozek, Utera, Kigash, and other reservoirs.
