Public Association "Atamnyn Amanaty"

The public association "Atamnyn Amanaty" is the only organization in Kazakhstan that since 2019 has been engaged in systematic search, archival and search work to establish the burial places of Kazakh soldiers who went missing during the Second World War and perpetuate their memory, as well as search for their relatives to give them information about the heroes of their ancestors.

To implement search activities, a website, pages on social networks Instagram and Facebook,

through which all caring people are effectively involved in search work: search engines and volunteers from Kazakhstan and other countries, and applications are also accepted to search for missing persons during the Second World War and the Great Patriotic War.

As of September 2020, about 3,000 applications were received and, thanks to the association, the burial sites of about 600 Kazakh soldiers were established, three families went to the burial sites in Budapest, Hungary, as well as Volgograd, Russia and St. Petersburg, RF.

Public Association "Atamnyn Amanaty" in 2020 became the first organization in Kazakhstan to receive the award of the public-state initiative "Hot Heart-2020" Moscow, Russia and was awarded the "Hot Heart" symbol.

During the year, our association provided assistance in the delivery to the homeland of 5 of our fellow countrymen, whose remains were raised in the Russian Federation and Ukraine.

In January - February 2021, volunteer groups began to form in the regions of the country. The task of these groups was to search for and transfer information about the soldiers, whose remains were raised by search engines or the burial places became known, to their relatives.

In the Atyrau region, the group consisted of only 5 people, now there are 7 of them. Through the efforts of this group of volunteers, a lot of work has been done, and as a result, in just March-April, relatives of 13 soldiers were found. But there are still 65 fighters on the list whose relatives are yet to be found. And these lists will be updated monthly.

One of the reasons that make it difficult to find the relatives of a soldier is that in archival documents, Kazakh names and surnames, the names of settlements from where they were called to the front, are greatly distorted. There are also not enough volunteers in the field, in the districts, to send out our cards and videos, to clarify the necessary information.

If the regional and district military commissariats, archives, district akimats joined our work, our search work would move much faster and easier.

Therefore, we ask all those who are not indifferent not to pass by. Come join us as a volunteer or at least help spread our lists!
