Prospects for cooperation with the French Development Agency discussed at ASPR

Deputy Chairman of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan Syrymbet Kaskeyev held a meeting with Gulnoza Callens Director of the French Development Agency (AFD) Office in Kazakhstan and Bakhyt Yessekina Director of the «Green Academy» scientific and educational center. The meeting focused on familiarizing the parties and exploring potential avenues of cooperation in the area of carbon neutrality.

During the meeting, Deputy Chairman Syrymbet Kaskeyev highlighted the Agency’s key activities and noted that environmental issues are a priority for the Head of State.

«ASPR is always open to cooperation in the areas of research and macroeconomic modeling» - he emphasized.

AFD Director Gulnoza Callens expressed support for Kazakhstan’s ongoing reforms aimed at achieving carbon neutrality. She affirmed AFD’s readiness to provide technical assistance in conducting socio-economic and environmental assessments of the decarbonization process.

«AFD has developed the ESTEEM and GEMMES modeling tools, which serve as support instruments for decision-making in transition policy. Our economists and experts are ready to collaborate closely» - said Ms. Callens.

Recall that French Development Agency Group began its operations in Kazakhstan last year under a bilateral agreement signed during the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to the Republic of Kazakhstan. AFD focuses on providing technical assistance and financing for infrastructure projects in energy, transport, and public utilities sectors.
