High quality data is the prerequisite of right managerial decisions - Zhandos Shaimardanov, Chairman of the ASPR

Today the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms held the meeting with the members of Senate and its Chairman Mr Maulen Ashimbayev.

At the opening of event the head of the Agency Zhandos Shaimardanov expressed his gratitude to the Parliament for support in the recent adoption of the Law on the Modernization of State Statistics. The legislative changes include a number of initiatives aimed primarily at improvement of data quality.

"As part of the implementation of the legislative amendments that have come into force, the Bureau introduced a number of new data products based on the AI instruments. We have also transitioned from a one-year to medium-term statistical plan, which ensures the reduction of respondents’ reports due to the active use of administrative and alternative sources. As part of this structural transformation, last week we signed the agreement with the mobile operator, which will be the first alternative data source for us" - Zhandos Shaimardanov said.

The participants were presented with analytical instruments developed by the Agency, as well as interactive tools and experimental indicators from the updated website of the Bureau of National Statistics.

In addition, the director of the HR department of the BNS Gulmira Beksautova delievered a report on strengthening the analytical capabilities and improving the data literacy among the civil servants and other users of official statistics. Nikita Burmistrov, the head of the database quality control department of the BNS spoke about ongoing initiatives for the improvement of data quality.  

The meeting concluded with the discussion and exchange of views with the senators.
