Head of ASPR RK Zhandos Shaimardanov met with the World Bank representatives

The Chairman of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhandos Shaimardanov held a meeting with Asad Alam Regional Director of the World Bank for Growth and Prosperity in Europe and Central Asia. The meeting focused on economic liberalization and exploring cooperation opportunities.

As noted, this year the Decrees "On Measures to Liberalize Economy" and "On the Approval of the National Development Plan until 2029" were adopted. According to Zhandos Shaimardanov the need to implement a new economic development paradigm to achieve sustainable, quality, and inclusive growth is one of the strategic priorities set by the Head of State.

"Overcoming the 'middle-income trap' and establishing strong institutional and socio-economic foundations to propel Kazakhstan into the ranks of high-income countries are key medium-term development goals" – said the Chairman of the Agency.

In response the World Bank representative expressed support for the economic reforms underway in Kazakhstan and noted that these new approaches would positively impact the country's competitiveness.

"Recently, the World Bank published its annual World Development Report 2024. This report presents a modern concept of ensuring quality growth for countries that have reached middle-income levels and are striving for advanced economic status" - said Asad Alam.

In conclusion, both parties agreed to continue productive collaboration.
