Today Syrymbet Kaskeyev Deputy Chairman of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan, participated in a meeting with representatives of UNICEF. The meeting was organized to discuss the findings of the Situation Analysis of Children and Adolescents in Kazakhstan (SitAn) with relevant government bodies and organizations.
"The areas of analysis presented in the SitAn project, such as children's rights, protection from violence, health, education, poverty reduction, and access to services, are key areas for assessing the status of children in the country and remain a central focus of political attention" - Syrymbet Kaskeyev noted.
This year, the Head of State signed a law increasing responsibility for any form of violence against children. The main task of the newly adopted law is to improve the legal, economic, social and organizational foundations of state policy to ensure the safety of children.
"Modern realities, as well as the impact of global trends, necessitate regular monitoring of factors affecting the well-being of children and adolescents. This is why it is so important to conduct such research, which allows us to objectively assess existing problems, identify positive trends and outline pathways for further development" - said the speaker.
At the event, UNICEF Representative in Kazakhstan Rashed Mustafa Sarwar, along with his Deputy Letitia Bazzi-Weil and Senior Consultant Robin Haar presented the SitAn project findings and led a preliminary discussion on priority issues related to children's rights.
