On February 20, 2024, a press briefing on the topic "The mechanism of prohibition on obtaining a loan" was held at the site of the RSI "Central Communications Service" in Almaty.
At the briefing, Alexander Terentyev, Director of the Department of Consumer Protection of Financial Services of the Agency, made a report on the measures of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market (hereinafter – the Agency) to develop an additional mechanism for voluntary refusal of individuals from receiving bank loans and microcredits.
Alexander Terentyev noted in his report that the Agency, together with law enforcement and other government agencies, pays special attention to the issue of financial fraud. A set of joint measures is being implemented, within the framework of which coordinated actions are being taken to combat financial fraud.
To reduce fraud related to the registration of fictitious loans, since February 11 this year, within the framework of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on information security, informatization and digital assets", an amendment was adopted on the right of an individual to establish or remove a voluntary refusal to receive bank loans and microcredits via the web-e-government portal. That is, this measure has become legal.
The Stop Credit service will allow citizens to additionally protect themselves from credit fraudsters by notifying creditors of their unwillingness to apply for a loan. That is, if there is information in the credit report on the establishment by an individual of a voluntary refusal to receive loans, creditors are prohibited by law from providing loans to them," Alexander Terentyev summed up.
It should be noted that the service "Voluntary refusal to receive bank loans, microcredits" is available on the e-gov website.kz and in the e-gov mobile app for free.
