About participation in the panel session "Data management = sustainable development?" Digital Bridge Forum 2023

Within the framework of the largest annual international digital forum Digital Bridge 2023, a panel session "Data management = sustainable development?" was held, which was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Agency Maria Khadzhieva.

The session discussed best practices and international experience in data management, such as: contribution to the sustainable development of companies, transparency and monitoring of indicators as the main factor in the implementation of ESG.

During the panel session, Maria Khadzhieva spoke about the measures taken by the Agency to implement ESG standards in the financial market of Kazakhstan, and how the new regulatory requirements for sustainable financing and the ESG agenda will affect the clients of financial institutions, borrowers and issuers.

"The financial sector plays a key role in the implementation of ESG principles, as it stimulates the redistribution of financial resources in favor of sustainable projects and business transformation based on ESG standards. In this connection, the task of implementing the ESG principles in the regulation of the financial market is one of the priorities and key initiatives of the Agency. Financial organizations make a significant contribution to stimulating the growth of the "green" economy and the policy of decarbonization," said Maria Hadzhieva.

By crediting various projects, financial organizations accumulate large amounts of data, which are reflected in their ESG reports. This information can be essential in the analysis of ESG risks and will be useful to investors whose goal is to participate in the implementation of sustainable development projects.

In conclusion, Maria Khadzhieva stressed that changing the approaches of banks and other financial institutions to assessing customer risks, taking into account ESG risks, will be an important step in the fight against climate change. Market participants can contribute to the development of a "green" economy by choosing sustainable financial products and supporting financial organizations that give priority to sustainable development.
