On Veterinary and Sanitary Safety in 2023

Targeted work is being carried out in the Akmola Region to ensure epizootic well-being. As a result, the epizootic situation for especially dangerous animal diseases in the region is currently favorable, which allows for the successful implementation of programs in the livestock industry and the free export of products and raw materials produced in our region.

In 2023, it is planned to test approximately 1.3 million heads of livestock and poultry and to administer 6.7 million doses of veterinary drugs against especially dangerous diseases.

For testing for brucellosis and other especially dangerous diseases, 582.7 thousand blood samples from cattle were delivered to the laboratory and tested, or 100% of the annual plan. 1,186 heads of cattle tested positive for brucellosis. Regarding sheep and goats, 681.6 thousand blood samples were delivered and tested, or 100% of the annual plan. 145 heads tested positive.

Timely measures are being taken to send livestock that test positive for brucellosis to sanitary slaughter.

Preventive measures have been carried out against 14 especially dangerous diseases, such as: rabies (cattle, sheep and goats, horses, camels, deer, dogs, cats); pasteurellosis of cattle; anthrax (cattle, sheep and goats, horses, camels, pigs, deer); foot-and-mouth disease in cattle; viral diarrhea and infectious rhinotracheitis of cattle; glanders and equine rhinopneumonia; nodular dermatitis of cattle; highly pathogenic avian influenza; Newcastle disease (birds); leptospirosis (cattle, pigs); listeriosis of sheep and goats; foot-and-mouth disease (cattle, sheep and goats, pigs).

During the current period, 122,224 veterinary certificates were issued in the region, including: 112,478 certificates for livestock and poultry products, 8,845 for all types of livestock and domestic animals, and 901 for raw materials of animal origin and feed.

Locally, veterinary certificates are issued by veterinarians of state veterinary organizations (veterinary stations), as well as by certified veterinarians of the production control unit of the facilities, certified by signature and seal. Information about issued veterinary certificates is entered into the EASU information system within 24 hours from the date of issue of the veterinary certificate, with the exception of technical interruptions due to repair work in the database.

All necessary measures are being taken to prevent the movement of animals, products, and raw materials of animal origin without veterinary сопроводительных документов, without conducting pre-slaughter inspection of animals and post-slaughter inspection of carcasses and organs. In case of animal slaughter in unauthorized places, a veterinary certificate is not issued, and prohibitive measures are taken.

In order to ensure the mandatory implementation of the slaughter of livestock intended for subsequent sale by individuals and legal entities, there are currently 69 slaughter facilities operating in the region, including 10 meat processing plants, 13 slaughterhouses, and 46 slaughter sites.

The Veterinary Department provides a state service for issuing licenses for activities in veterinary and sanitary examination of products and raw materials of animal origin in accordance with the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In order to ensure epizootic well-being in the region, work is underway to ensure interaction with other government agencies.
