Since ancient times, hunting with hunting birds has been not so much a way of obtaining hunting trophies as a special skill. In Kazakhstan, it is an integral attribute of the country's culture.
The screams of fans, the screeching of birds and the trampling of hooves resounded last weekend in the vicinity of the village of Tole bi Enbekshikazakh district, located in the foothills of the Trans-Ili Alatau. From November 3 to 5, an international tournament on the national sport – "SONAR-2023" was held in the Almaty region. Berkutchi and kusbegi came here from almost all over Kazakhstan, as well as from Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia and China. Among them are famous hunters with hunting birds, winners of international and world competitions.
The competition, which became a vivid demonstration of national art, gathered more than 100 people, including: 70 with golden eagles, 18 with falcons and 24 with hawks.
