33 people released from investigative and temporary detention centers in Almaty region

The measure of restraint was chosen after a thorough study of the personality, age, State of Health, degree of participation, attitude to actions and other characteristic data.

As a result of the January incident, 758 people were injured in the region, including 643 police officers, 78 soldiers, 37 civilians, many received minor injuries, and their lives are not in danger.

"Measures are being taken to fulfill the instructions of the head of state in terms of easing the punishment for persons whose actions do not contain aggravating circumstances. Here we pay special attention to each offender. The nature and severity of the category were assessed," said Rashid Amirov, Acting Prosecutor of Almaty region.

In total, 409 criminal cases are being investigated in January, including 158 theft, 191 illegal possession of weapons, 11 terrorism, 3 mass riots, 3 murders, etc.

Based on the results of the investigation, 93 appeals were submitted for mitigation, and the court satisfied the prosecutor's acts. 71 persons were released from custody, and 22 fines were replaced by a warning. Currently, there are no persons under administrative arrest in the region.

Recall that the Anti-Corruption service is investigating 37 criminal cases of torture.

In the appeals of the victims, it was stated that law enforcement officers during the investigation of criminal cases under the "January events" committed torture in order to recognize the victims as having committed a crime.Lawyers, relatives, parents and the victims themselves appealed against the actions of police and other law enforcement officers.
