About the socio-political situation in Almaty region
The Department of Internal Policy implements state policies aimed at ensuring the statehood and unity of the people, strengthening socio-political stability, forming civic activity and socially positive attitude of the region's population, supporting and developing civil society institutions, strengthening the competitiveness of the region's information scale, and strengthening interethnic and interfaith relations in the region.
Representatives of 105 nationalities and nationalities live in the region, 68 ethno-cultural centers, 462 active non-governmental organizations, 10 public associations of the "Union of Veterans" of Almaty region, 15 branch trade union organizations, 70 youth associations, 193 mass media, 644 religious associations and branches, 6 regional branches of political parties operate.
Work is underway to form a positive opinion in society, maintain the stability of the socio-political situation and prevent hotbeds of social tension.

On interethnic relations

Mediation services

A sociological study of the sphere of interethnic relations
Based on the results of public procurement, Tabiya-CONSULT LLP organized and monitored a quarterly social survey on interethnic relations in the Almaty region.
The survey involved 1,000 respondents from 17 districts and 3 cities of Almaty region, including men and women aged 18 to 70 years. The main purpose of the sociological research is to study the interethnic situation in Kazakhstan, the factors and dynamics of its influence in order to develop practical recommendations for state policy in the field of public harmony and national unity. The results obtained in the course of data analysis showed that in the region there is a concern of the population regarding the preservation of peace in interethnic issues. Despite the fact that the population of the region is sufficiently informed about the ongoing activities in the field of public policy, however, opinions about inefficient implementation are increasingly appearing on the ground, which requires improving the existing approach to assessing the implementation of state initiatives on the ground. Special attention should be paid to the processes of providing the population with reliable and complete information on activities and plans carried out within the framework of state programs.
According to the final indicators, the results obtained in the course of data analysis showed that interethnic relations in the region were assessed by respondents as 58.4% – calm, 28.5% - favorable. 1.1% of respondents said that they are sure of the conflict, 0.8% found it difficult to answer. Respondents mostly attributed it not to the interethnic situation, but to social and economic problems, and also noted that ignorance of the laws by many residents of the region leads to negative consequences.
According to a sociological survey , 44.3% of respondents in the region believe that interethnic relations in their places of residence are still calm, 29.4% have slightly improved, 11.6% said that" it has become much better", 13.1% note a deterioration in relations, and only 1.2% of the population note a significant deterioration in interethnic relations.
According to the data obtained, there is every reason to conclude that the situation in the region is generally stable.
About the activities of non-governmental organizations
According to the Regional Department of Justice, 920 non-governmental organizations are registered in the region, including 588 public associations, 290 public foundations, and 42 associations of legal entities.
The main activities of NGOs in the region are: support for socially vulnerable segments of the population-94, support for youth policy and children's initiatives-70, protection of the rights and legitimate interests of citizens and organizations-58, protection of citizens ' health, gender policy-38, strengthening public harmony and national unity-31, etc.
The largest number of active NGOs is located in Taldykorgan (191), Karasai (46), Talgar (45), Ili (27), Enbekshikazakh (26) districts.
The minimum number of active NGOs is located in Raiymbek (2) and Balkhash (2) districts.
As of April 1 of this year, in the reporting year 2020, 462 NGOs in the region submitted their data to the NGO database (in 2020-396 NGOs, in 2019-385 NGOs, in 2018-394 NGOs)..
Today, the main mechanism for the development and interaction of NGOs in the region is the state social order.

The aim of the competition is to develop civil society, involve the potential of its institutions in solving current social and socially significant problems, and support civil initiatives for further funding of "start up". The competition received more than 50 applications, and the top 10 projects were selected according to special criteria.
The forum of non-governmental organizations of Almaty region "30th Anniversary of partnership in the interests of sustainable development of society and the state"was held from November 17 to 18 this year in order to form and improve effective communication between civil society, state bodies, and business. In this direction, the action plan of the Department of Internal Policy of the Almaty region for 2021 was developed and approved.
