The improvement of the embankment of the Kapshagai reservoir and the reconstruction of city beaches has begun.

The total length of the landscaped territory is 5.5km The project provides for a complete reconstruction of the beach, including the arrangement of sidewalks and bike paths, landscaping (with an automatic irrigation system), the installation of sports and children's entertainment structures, an amphitheater, piers and commercial areas that meet safety requirements. The beach area will be expanded towards the reservoir, so backfilling with rocks and sand is necessary.
Akim of the city of Konaev Nurlan Kumatayev during the next detour noted: "If last year the city was visited by about 1 million tourists, this year this figure will be much higher. And we must create conditions not only for guests, but also for the local population. The improvement of urban beaches will increase the level of service and have a positive impact on the development of entrepreneurship."
The implementation of this project will create an iconic landmark of the regional center and use the natural feature of the area. The new beach includes pastime scenarios for all age groups and categories. Additionally, this location will allow for the water stage of the international Ironman competitions, and the unique amphitheater on the water will become a new venue for cultural events, sports competitions. During the implementation of the project, which will take 24 months, more than 400 additional jobs will be created, the expected payments to the local budget will amount to more than 2 billion tenge.
