Modern 50 MW wind farm is under construction in Almaty region, which contributes to the development of "green" energy and its own production of electricity in the region. The object is being built on the territory of the Sarkan district of the region. In general, today there are 31 renewable energy facilities with a total capacity of 317.67 MW in Zhetysu, including 18 hydroelectric power plants, 7 wind farms and 6 solar power plants. Electricity consumption in the region is 589.48 MW, of which own production is over 382 MW, including the share of renewable energy sources of 72 MW, - the press service of akim of the Almaty region reports.
According to the akimat of the Sarkan district, the wind farm under construction in the Lepsy region is the largest investment project currently being implemented in the region. Representatives of Abai-2 WPS LLP began construction work in 2019 and plan to complete it by the end of 2022. First of all, a road was laid to an important object, and now specialists have begun to fill in the base of the installations. About 100 people are involved in the construction zone.
“New wind farm with a capacity of over 50 MW. By the end of the year, 6 first wind turbines will be installed and put into operation,” district akim Talgat Kainarbekov said.
By the way, the wind power station is located in 80 km from Lepsy village on a wide plain. It consists of 16 wind turbines with a capacity of 3.2 MW each, the towers of which are 100 meters high, and the blades of the wind turbines are 70 meters. Thanks to the construction of the facility, 19.3 billion tenge of investments were attracted to the region.
In general, the list of renewable energy facilities in Almaty region, the commissioning of which is planned from 2021 to 2025, includes 27 projects (HPP - 15; WPS - 9; SES - 1; BIOES - 2) with a total capacity of 424 MW. The implementation of all these projects will increase the share of energy production from renewable sources in the structure of domestic production to 42% by 2025.
