A free mobile app "Darmen" was launched in Almaty region.the project was implemented by the Department of emergency situations of Almaty together with the development Center of Almaty and the Kazakh developer company "I2NIK" LLP as part of the implementation of the Smart Almaty concept.
This mobile app is available for download to all owners of smartphones and tablets based on the Android and IOS operating system in the state, Russian and English languages.
For the development of "Darmen", we studied the experience of notifying the population via a mobile app in Japan and the United States. This application allows you to inform the population in a few seconds about the threat and occurrence of emergency situations in the region, including storm warnings. In the future, when implementing an early warning system for earthquakes, this application will notify you of an upcoming earthquake.
The regional emergency service generates notifications after receiving operational information from the Kazhydromet service, a seismological experimental and methodological expedition. Next, the emergency dispatcher enters data into the system, which instantly sends push notifications to app users.
The mobile app has been tested and has shown high efficiency in prompt delivery of notifications in comparison with the previously used SMS notification.
