Safety measures for vehicles with gas cylinder equipment

With the increase in the number of vehicles in the city, the number of fires on it also increases. Moreover, such fires occur both during the trip and in the Parking lot. The greatest concern is caused by cars on gas. The main reason for switching to gas is financial gain. Installation of gas-cylinder equipment is a serious interference in the design of the machine. However, many car owners decide on such a modification, not fearing a number of problems associated with the use of gas-cylinder equipment. Since the installation is not high-quality and not in specialized places lead to irreversible consequences. Also, it should be noted that the maintenance of these cars require a lot of attention from car owners.

For today, in the field of safety of vehicles with gas –cylinder equipment, the order of the Committee of technical regulation and Metrology "on some issues of standardization" dated June 2, 2020 No. 197-od approved and put into effect from July 1, 2020 Changes No. 1 to the ST RK GOST 12.4-026-2002 "the colors are signal, safety signs and markings are signal. General technical conditions and application procedure", providing for the establishment of a sign prohibiting the entry of vehicles equipped with gas-cylinder equipment into closed Parking lots and Parking lots.

In addition, paragraph 1099-1 of the fire safety Rules in the Republic of Kazakhstan prohibits Parking of cars with engines running on compressed natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas in built-in buildings for other purposes and attached to them, as well as closed Parking lots located below ground level.

If there is a gas leak on your car, first of all you need to stop the car in a sparsely populated place, turn off the ignition, close the flow valve and drop off all passengers. In the future, switch to gasoline and follow a specialized service STATION.

And if a fire occurs in the car, it is necessary to turn off the ignition, close the valve, inform the fire service of the location and, if possible, try to eliminate the fire using a fire extinguisher or sand.

It is forbidden to drive a vehicle equipped with HBO:

- operation of a vehicle with an expired gas cylinder;

- engine operation with faulty gas equipment and gas leaks;

- carry out repair work in the presence of gas in the power supply system;

- tighten the fastening of HBO connections with a filled cylinder;

- knock on the fixture under pressure;

- put a car with a faulty HBO in a closed room;

- start the engine, drive in and out of the garage on gas;

- store the gas cylinder car in the garage with the unit's fans open;

- bleed gas from the cylinder and from the HBO system in the room;

- check the tightness of HBO connections.;
