Deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, having examined at a plenary meeting, adopted the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Veterans".

The law was developed in connection with the numerous appeals of war and labor veterans to the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Government and the MLSPP. The document consolidates all the benefits and guarantees provided to veterans under applicable law.
The law defines 5 socially protected categories of veterans: veterans of the Great Patriotic War; war veterans on the territory of other states; veterans equal in privileges and guarantees to veterans of the Great Patriotic War; labor veterans; other categories of persons to whom the law applies.Military personnel who took part in hostilities in Afghanistan, as well as on the territory of other states, are transferred to the category of war veterans, while all existing benefits and allowances are preserved. In the category of war veterans on the territory of other states, apart from Afghan warriors, there are persons who participated in strengthening the protection of the CIS external border at the Tajik-Afghan sector from 1992 to 2001, in resolving the conflict in Czechoslovakia in 1968, and the ethnic conflict in Nagorny Karabakh, as well as the national contingent participating in the peacekeeping operation in Iraq. For the newly introduced category a special state allowance will be established in the amount of 4.8 MCI (in 2020 - 12,725 tenge). In addition to the special state allowance, these persons will be provided with all the rights and guarantees applicable to military personnel who took part in hostilities in Afghanistan, including queuing for housing, taxation, free medical care, provision of sanatorium-resort treatment, etc. d.
