Fire safety of Orthodox churches during the Christmas celebrations

Fire safety of Orthodox churches during the Christmas celebrations

On January 7, Orthodox Christians celebrate one of the main Christian holidays - Christmas. According to the Orthodox tradition, on Christmas Eve and the day of the celebration of the Nativity of Christ, solemn religious events are held, in which a large number of believers participate.

To ensure fire safety, a watch will be organized for employees of the emergency department of the Karasai region in Orthodox churches and other religious institutions during the celebration of the Nativity of Christ. As part of the preventive measures, additional instructions were given to the clergy on actions in the event of a fire. Particular attention should be paid to the proper condition of the escape routes, the possibility of unhindered passage to the buildings of fire fighting equipment, the availability of fire protection equipment (fire alarm, the presence of warning systems, telephones, active external and internal fire-fighting water supply, fire extinguishers).

It is imperative that the temple has evacuation plans, staff must know what to do in the event of a fire. OChS of Karasay region calls on residents and guests of the region to strictly observe the rules of safe behavior in churches:

 - be careful when lighting candles from candlesticks, roll up your sleeves;

 - keep a handkerchief under the candle so that hot wax does not get on your skin, and you instinctively do not jerk your hand and drop the burning candle on your clothes;

- tie up scarves tightly and tidy up your hair, reducing the risk of candle fire hitting them when you tilt your head;

- supervise children so that they do not place a burning candle next to your clothes;

- do not light flammable objects and liquids, for example, celluloid toys, matches and lighters, instead of candles;

- try to keep a safe distance from other parishioners;

- in case of a fire, take off your clothes quickly, try to extinguish them with a fire extinguisher or cover with thick material;

- study the evacuation plan of the church building in order to know the evacuation routes, of which there must be several, and all exit doors are open;

- in the event of a fire alarm and fire warning, do not be alarmed, leave the hall quickly, but without creating panic and crush. In the event of a fire, immediately call "101" or "112".
