DCHS Almaty region district warns
— in no case should you go out on the ice at night and with poor visibility (fog, snowfall, rain);
— we kindly ask parents not to let their children go on the ice without supervision;
— you can't test the strength of the ice with a kick. If water appears after the first strong blow with a log or a ski stick, it means that the ice is thin, you can not walk on it. In this case, you need to immediately follow your own trail to the shore, with sliding steps, without taking your feet off the ice and placing them shoulder-width apart so that the load is distributed over a large area. The same is done with the warning crackling of ice and the formation of cracks in it;
— when crossing the river, you should use ice crossings;
— if there is a load, you should hang it on one shoulder, which will make it easy to get rid of it if necessary;
— during the group crossing of the reservoir, it is necessary to observe the distance from each other (5-6 m);
— on a frozen pond, you need to take with you a strong cord 20-25 meters long with a large blind loop at the end and a load. The load will help to throw the cord to the one who has fallen into the water, the loop is needed so that the victim can grab the cord more securely;
— one of the most frequent causes of tragedies in reservoirs is alcohol intoxication: people react inadequately to danger and become helpless in case of an emergency.
If a person has fallen into the water, you should:
— don't panic;
— do not lean your whole body on the thin edge of the ice, as it will break off under the weight of the body;
— spread your arms wide so as not to plunge headlong into the water;
— lean your elbows on the ice and, bringing the body into a horizontal position, try to throw the leg closest to its edge onto the ice, turn the body to pull out the second leg and quickly roll out onto a solid surface;
— without sudden movements, crawl as far as possible from a dangerous place in the opposite direction;
— call for help;
— staying on the surface of the water, try to spend less physical effort on it;
— while afloat, keep your head as high above the water as possible.
