According to the results of regular monitoring in the second quarter of 2021, the religious situation was described as stable and predictable. The situation was completely under the control of the State Institution "Department for religious affairs of the Almaty region" (hereinafter - the Department) and its structural divisions. As a result of the planned work with the leaders of religious associations, no facts of violation of quarantine requirements in the region were revealed.
The total number of religious associations and branches was 646 units (in the first quarter 644). Among them: 476 Islamic mosques, 52 Russian orthodox churches, 11 Roman catholic churches, 10 Jehovah's witnesses, 95 Protestant religious associations and 1 Bahai community and 1 society for Krishna consciousness.
There are 891 clergymen serving in all religious associations. Among them: 580 teachers-imams, 311 ministers of Christian religious associations.
580 imams, 296 chief imams, 169 mullahs, 73 naib imams, 29 teachers, 13 azansh serve in these Islamic mosques. During the reporting period, 1 mullah with a secondary education was accepted for service (190 with higher education, 95 graduates of madrassas, 195 graduates of special courses, 102 with secondary education).
There are 311 clergymen working in Christian and non-traditional religious areas. Of these, 75 are Russian orthodox, 29 are Roman catholic, 204 are Protestant, 2 are Baha'i communities, 1 is the association of Krishna consciousness (58 have higher education, 42 have secondary education, 211 employees have completed courses).
There are 8 namazkhans registered on the territory of the region, who have a special permit to conduct religious rites outside of religious buildings (structures). However, due to the termination of the activities of 5 of them, work is underway to amend the resolution of the akim of the region №389 of 2014. All religious rites are conducted in accordance with the Hanafi mashab.
In the second quarter of 2021, according to the plan, 1031 events of various formats were held in the region (including: 114 online meetings, 117 meetings, 21 online interviews, 5 interviews, 30 online seminars, 34 seminars, 18 actions, 117 sermons, 327 online sermons, 4 surveys, 61 lectures, 86 online lectures, 14 round tables, 5 online round tables, 4 conferences, 3 online conferences, 22 Open Air, 3 debates, 1 sports event, 29 class hours, 15 seminars, 1 presentation). Within the framework of the events, 742,281 people were covered.
All activities were carried out in compliance with quarantine measures. The main target audience covered by the events held by the IRG: young people (students of secondary schools, university students, marginal youth), civil servants, military personnel, employees of industrial and commercial enterprises, believers, convicts.
During the monitoring of the Internet space, 2380 destructive materials were identified and (Youtube -1264, Instagram - 762, Vkontakte – 354) were entered into the "Cybernadzor"system. A total of 1,668 links have been blocked since the beginning of 2020. The expert opinion for the second quarter of 2021 has not yet been received.
About 2000 information was sent to the group" Din maseleleri", consisting of 145 members in the messenger "Whats app", created by the Department for the second quarter.
In addition, the groups "Imamdar kauymdastygy", "Dintanushylar", "Dini birlestikterdin zhetekshileri", "Zhetisu zhastary" in the messenger "Whats app", created on the initiative of the subordinate Research center, consisting of representatives of youth organizations, religious associations, theologians and religious scholars, representatives of IRG groups of the region and districts, public figures, law enforcement agencies are replenished daily with thematic materials and objective information information in the field of religion. There are about 2500 participants in these groups.
