Zhabykbai Asem, a student of the 9th "a" Specialized Lyceum named after Al-Farabi of Almaty region, took first place in the republican competition of scientific projects in general education subjects. At this competition, she defended a project on the topic "Experimental study of rolling friction". The student proved that the coefficient of rolling friction can be determined using the PASCO motion sensor and video surveillance methods. The novelty of this project lies in the fact that it offers two different new methods for determining the rolling friction coefficient. Rolling friction is not included in the physics curriculum at school. But in everyday life, rolling friction is more common than other types of friction. Therefore, its study is of interest to schoolchildren. This project can be used as a demonstration experiment in a physics lesson to develop students' understanding of the friction force.
