Almaty’s governor instructed to accelerate the tempo of pedestrian and transport infrastructure’s reconstruction of the city

During the working trip he instructed the City Construction Administration to ensure, within ten days, the correction of all the revealed defects when laying the paving slabs on the Abay square in front of the Palace of the Republic. In addition, it is necessary to strengthen the appropriate control over the quality of the works carried out at all construction sites in the city.

"Today, with the reconstruction of only the historic center of the city, about three thousand jobs have been created, a large amount of work has been done. It is clear that in a short time, but how today laid out the tiles in front of the Palace of the Republic, it will not do so. Put everything back", said Bauyrzhan Baibek.

It is worth noting that several other contractors were fined earlier. The commission of the city’s executive committee checked the progress of the construction works on the improvement of the streets and made a number of serious comments on the contract organizations.

In turn, the managers of the contract organizations involved in the reconstruction of the city prospectuses at the on-site meeting with the governor of the city assured that the main works will be completed by the end of the month with the provision of the appropriate quality of work.

"We worked on Abay Square in three shifts, even at night. We finished all the rough work. Various events are held in the Palace of the Republic, so we tried to get the equipment out faster and free the aisles, remove all this dirt and take out the garbage. I admit that I was in a hurry, and because of this the granite tiles were laid unevenly. Now we will shift it all neatly, without any special inconvenience to the citizens. In the near future we will launch fountains, including dry ones. All identified shortcomings, we eliminate and we will follow the guarantee", - said the director of the company" TRIA HOLDING "Mikhail Chikaev.

As part of the reconstruction of urban avenues, it is planned to expand pedestrian zones, plant green spaces to create shaded spaces and build new fountains. The pavers are being laid, lighting poles are replaced, the watering system is being installed, and the entrance panels and facades of the buildings are being updated.

According to the results of non-departmental construction expertise, commission visits, simplification of decisions taking into account public opinion, public procurement procedures for selecting contractors and use of domestic materials, about 40% of the initial cost of projects was saved, said the head of the Almaty City Construction Department Nurbol Nursagatov. The cost of projects was reduced from 30.2 to 18.4 billions tenge.

He added that all contractors have warranty obligations for the quality of work for two years. For example, on reconstructed last year Zhibek Zholy LLP "Atriks-Story" at its own expense corrects all the shortcomings caused by subsidence of soil or marriage in the tile.

According to him, in the current year in the competition for the reconstruction of city avenues for each site, from 6 to 8 companies claimed. At the same time contractors themselves choose a supplier of materials on the condition that it will be a domestic producer. Immediately during construction, samples are taken from each lot for examination, the composition of the materials is examined.

"Of course, there are questions to the quality of domestic materials, but we hope that due to the increasing demand, it will increase every year. The bulk or 92% of granite products and paving slabs were purchased at the enterprises of Kazakhgranit of Zhambyl oblast, Konkrit, Ademi Kala, Yuform (Almaty), Kostanay MBI (Kostanay oblast), Kazakhmining (Zhambyl region ), "Ezmir" (Almaty region), possessing the relevant quality certificates. All the existing volume was purchased, the balance at the rate of 8% fell on foreign producers. During the working tour Almaty’s governor also checked the pace of construction of the BRT line along Timiryazeva Street, criticizing the work of the contract organization LLP Daulet Dorstroy.

"Financing was allocated in a timely manner, however the work is being carried out with a delay from the schedule. Got large volumes, now can not cope. Only after our daily detours and the pressure of the public were brought in additional forces. Until the first of September the carriageway must be opened", - said Bauyrzhan Baibek.

The route of the first phase of BRT with a total length of 8.7 km runs through Mustafin-Suleimenov-Zhandosov-Timiryazev to Zheltoksan street. The reconstruction of the sites in the streets of Mustafina, Ryskulbekova and Suleimenova is nearing completion. The corresponding construction works continue on the streets of Zhandosov and Timiryazev.
