What are they doing to create a comfortable urban environment in Almaty

During the previous inspection of the street Zheltoksan, the head of the city ordered to organize an island of safety for pedestrians in front of the monument “Tauelsizdik tangy”. If earlier the roadway adjoined directly to the monument, then now it has created conditions for convenient and safe movement, the paving stones are lined, lights are installed and a hedge is planted.

On a number of segments of Abay Avenue, including in front of the Lermontov State Academic Russian Drama Theater, paving slabs were laid and the green area was expanded. Directly at the entrance to the theater, a not functioning fountain was launched.

As part of the modernization of city avenues, a new fountain appeared on the site of the former reservoir between the National Library and Baiseitov street.

In order to create a barrier-free environment, the number of ramps has been increased. For example, a convenient descent to a new fountain in front of the Academy of Sport and Tourism is organized. The stopping complexes located too close to the roadway are moved, additional stops are established in the places of the large passenger traffic.

According to the seller of the confectionery "Lakomka" on Abylai Khan Avenue, after the repair of a fountain that had not worked for a long time in their establishment, there was an increase in customers.

“They began to notice us. Oh, and have you recently opened? Well, we have been working here for several years now. It became clean, neat. Everyone is happy, ”she smiles.

In turn, the representative of the renewed bookstore "Almaty Kitap" Natalya Koch noticed that thanks to the reconstruction of Abay Avenue, the number of fans of book products has increased.

“You rework from the outside, and we from the inside. All this already gives its results. More people began to walk, and when they still see interesting windows, they always come in, ”added Natalia Koch.

It should be mentioned that in Almaty as a part of the development of a comfortable urban environment, two-thirds of the historic center of the city have already been reconstructed, 524 streets and almost 1,400 old courtyards have been repaired.

Today, trees are planted, modern and comfortable outdoor furniture is installed on the updated avenues. The construction of new pavement lighting continues.

300 km of channels and more than 800 km of utilities have been changed. Updated all subways of the city.

Until the end of the year, a third of all street lighting will be transferred to LED and energy-saving lamps, and the share of new public transport will be increased to 80%.
