US Trade Mission’s visit to Almaty

Welcoming the mission participants , the governor of Almaty Bauyrzhan Baybek notes that Almaty is a city of business and private capital, where large international organizations and transnational companies are based, 90% of the head offices of banks and insurance companies of the country, 29 consulates and trade missions, more than 60 large transnational companies . Just two days ago, the UN House was opened. International schools and universities successfully operate, a modern medical cluster is being formed. Today, Almaty is among the 600 megacities that form 70% of the global economy.

“Thanks to the policy of our President Nursultan Nazarbayev, a stable and dynamically developing economy has been formed in Almaty. This city is attractive for investment. For 10 years, only 3.3 billion dollars of foreign investment was attracted to the processing industry of Almaty alone. In September, four high-tech factories were launched with Japanese, Russian, Italian and Chinese investments. There are 168 companies with the participation of US capital in various fields, the trade turnover demonstrates positive dynamics, but the potential of bilateral cooperation has not been exhausted. Such a delegation has visited to Almaty for the first time and we are ready to provide full assistance to American companies, ”said Bauyrzhan Baybek.

In turn, the US Consul General in Almaty, Eric Mayer, stressed that the city, along with Astana, is the center of entrepreneurship and innovation not only in the country, but also in the entire region of Central Asia.

“We welcome President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s policy of developing a diverse and innovative economy. Kazakhstan continues to improve the business climate, rising to 36th place in the Doing Business ranking of the World Bank. Almaty, together with Astana, are at the forefront of these initiatives. It is the center of business and innovation, not only for Kazakhstan, but also for the entire region of Central Asia. Therefore, of course, our trade mission came here today, ”said Eric Mayer.

During the event, representatives of American companies got acquainted with the investment opportunities of Almaty and had a number of meetings with representatives of local business circles.
