“Almaty has always been a launching pad for the use of best practices, innovative projects and case studies in the field of civil society. And today we have gathered to check our clocks and develop a “road map” for the development and enhancement of the effectiveness of NGOs. It is important for me to hear your opinion and suggestions on the joint solution of topical issues of society. We are open, accessible, ready to cooperate with all NGOs in the city. Therefore, the main priorities, strategy, problematic issues and solutions have always been and will remain the subject of my close attention, ” Almaty’s governor emphasized.
During the meeting, B.Sagintayev noted a number of promising areas for interaction between NGOs and city authorities. In particular, the governor touched upon the topic of ecology and air quality.

“I know it worries all citizens. I plan to study in detail the issue of the transfer of urban CHP-2 to gas. In this regard, in the field of ecology, your support in combating pollution of the environment and greening the city is important,”the governor emphasized.
In addition, topical issues of strengthening public security and zero tolerance for unrest and crime, development of local self-government, in particular, KSK activities, as well as transparency of city budget expenditures, social assistance to large families, employment and leisure activities for young people, etc. were touched upon.
Today, there are more than 4 thousand NGOs in the city, of which about 1 thousand are active, including 45 youth organizations, 170 religious associations and others.
