Repair of strollers and invataxis: how to support people with limited mobility in Almaty

In Almaty, for people with disabilities who cannot move independently, there is a free Center for the repair and replacement of wheelchair parts. The wheelchair repair shop provided services to 470 persons with disabilities. This was announced by the head of the Department of Employment and Social Programs Baurzhan Zhaubasov. According to him, in 2023 it is planned to provide at least 600 wheelchair repair services.

"Additionally, Invataxi services are provided to persons with disabilities and children with disabilities who have difficulties in movement. The provision of the Invataxi service is carried out through a state social order for 100 cars, a pilot project has also been launched to implement the service through the taxi aggregator Yandex Taxi, this has allowed to increase the coverage of people in need of the service," he said.

Also, for comprehensive support of persons with disabilities and their integration into society, the Ten Qogam Social Support Center has been operating in the city since May 2020.

"This year, in accordance with the instructions of the Mayor of Almaty on scaling up the social project "Center for Social Support of Persons with Disabilities Ten Qogam", measures have been taken to open 7 Centers in the city of Almaty. Since the beginning of the year, 3,065 people have received services in Ten Qogam Centers," Baurzhan Zhaubasov noted.
