The first electronic boards at Almaty bus stops will appear before the end of the year

“I would like to clarify that the executive committee does not refuse to equip stops with digital boards. It was only that we will not install them by the city budget. The first scoreboards will appear along the BRT line on Timiryazev until the end of the year. This work will be done by the Transport Holding. According to the instructions of the city’s governor, we will develop this project at the expense of extra budget funds and equip large hubs of the city with digital boards, ”said Talgat Hoschanov, head of the Passenger Transport and Highways Department.

As for tracking vehicles online on the map, according to him, the Onay application is already running, which has downloaded more than 200 thousand users. Since August 2018, users of the application have the opportunity to pay for travel through a QR code. Over 360 thousand active users includes the CityBus application.

In addition, until the end of the year, up-to-date information will be placed on each stop complex with numbers of public transport routes and the time of their work.

It should be mentioned that by the end of the year the share of new public transport in Almaty will be increased to 87%. Last week, another 200 new buses arrived in the city.

“Old smoky buses in the city should not go in principle. If the private carrier does not update the rolling stock, despite the conditions created, then the contract with it should be terminated. It is necessary to actively introduce new technologies and in the future to work on the issues of free transplantation. The main criterion determining the quality of traffic is the level of satisfaction of citizens. For keeping the number of personal vehicles in the city at the current level, citizens should be offered a decent alternative,”said the city’s governor Bauyrzhan Baybek at the presentation of new buses.
