The governor of Almaty met with the Ambassador of New Zealand

The head of the diplomatic mission highly appreciated the transport and logistics potential of the city, opening up trade routes to the markets of the EEU, PRC and Central Asia. According to him, despite the geographical distance, between the parties there are all the prerequisites for increasing mutual cooperation.

Today, Almaty focuses its attention on the introduction of modern “smart” technologies in the city and the development of an innovative “green” economy. In turn, New Zealand is known for actively promoting renewable energy technologies, which already generate 85% of the country's energy.

In addition, thanks to the support of start-up companies, new technologies have become the third largest export item of New Zealand, which is the world leader in ease of doing business according to the World Bank's Doing Business rating, where Kazakhstan occupies 36th place.

“Almaty is a beautiful and unique city that has great potential for the development of tourism. It is surprising that from the city center to the ski resort can be reached in just 20-30 minutes. I think that New Zealand companies specializing in tourism will be interested in the opportunities opening up here. New Zealand is increasingly exporting high-tech IT services, where we could also implement fruitful cooperation, ”said Ian Hill.
