Almaty hosted the first organized group of business tourists from Qatar. A large retail company has sent 47 employees to Almaty. A group of Arab tourists will spend 5 days in the city, during which they will visit the most famous sights.
Today, the tourist flow to Almaty from the Middle East is actively growing. In the first quarter, more than 55 thousand foreign tourists arrived in the city, which is 2.5 times more than the same period last year. A certain part of them are investors and tourists from Qatar, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
According to experts, this became possible thanks to the measures taken to open borders, resume air traffic, as well as promote the city on international markets through events held by the Akimat of Almaty together with tour operators in recent years. For example, participation in the Dubai ATM-2022 tourist exhibition, roadshows in the largest cities of Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman.
"Almaty is beginning to enjoy great popularity among business tourists and ordinary travelers. Today we received the first large organized group of business tourists from Qatar. Thanks to the measures taken, interest in Almaty as a tourist destination is growing, and we will continue this work. It is very important for our city to increase the flow of tourists from the Middle East, this is our target market. The average check of tourists from the Middle East is much higher than the check of tourists from other countries," said Edige Margulan, Director of Almaty Tourist Information Center LLP.
At the end of 2021, a new Almaty – Doha flight was launched. Today, the number of flights in this direction has been increased to four per week. More than 100 flights have been made since the beginning of the year by Qatar Airways. Flights are operated on an A-320 aircraft.
