In Almaty, thousands of citizens and guests of the city celebrate Nauryz

Congratulating the residents and guests of the city, Almaty’s governor Bauyrzhan Baybek noted that the Nauryz in Kazakhstan was a truly nationwide celebration, contributing to the strengthening of friendship, mutual respect and harmony. The national holiday was banned in Soviet times and only in 1988 at the initiative of a group of intellectuals it was first revived in Almaty. By the decree of the First President Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev on March 15, 1991, Nauryz became a public holiday.

“We meet Nauryz at a special moment for our people. March 19, Elbasy - The first President of Kazakhstan announced his historic decision on the termination of office as President. With this step, Elbasy once again demonstrated his wisdom and foresight, adherence to democratic values. Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev is a great personality not only from the point of view of the latest Kazakhstan history, but also of global significance. His name is on a par with the names of prominent figures in world history and politics, such as Ataturk, George Washington, Winston Churchill, Lee Kuan Yew, and others, ”said Bauyrzhan Baybek.

According to him, the historical mission of Nursultan Nazarbayev as the founder of the modern Kazakhstani state, the author of the country's economic success, as well as his outstanding international initiatives widely supported on the world stage, earned him universal respect and indisputable authority.

“On the ruins of the Soviet Union, Elbasy, in the most difficult conditions, created a new state, strengthened its independence, approved the state borders of the country at the UN level. The Constitution was adopted, state symbols and national currency were approved. By inviting our compatriots to their historical homeland, he made it possible for hundreds of thousands of Kazakhs to regain their homeland. On his initiative, the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, which has no analogues in the world, was created, on the basis of which a unique, actively studied in the world model of all-Kazakhstan unity, interethnic peace and harmony was formed, ”he said.

During his speech, Bauyrzhan Baybek noted that improving the well-being of ordinary Kazakhstanis has always been the main goal of the state policy of the First President. Despite the difficult economic conditions for the country, on his initiative, the Bolashak International Scholarship was founded for thousands of young Kazakhstanis who received an excellent opportunity to study at the best universities in the world. And in Kazakhstan, he opened world-class educational institutions - Nazarbayev University and Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools. In the heart of Kazakhstan, Elbasy built a beautiful capital that connected the West and the East, becoming the recognized center of international life, where the most important issues of world politics are discussed and decisions are made.

“Almaty residents treat Elbasy with great respect and sincere love. Two years ago, on the eve of Independence Day, the city Maslikhat, relying on the broad support of Almaty residents, decided to assign the name of our First President to one of the central streets of Almaty. So, Furmanov Street was renamed to Nursultan Nazarbayev Avenue. Last year this one was completely modernized and became the center of attraction, convenient and comfortable for residents and visitors of the city. At the same time, we reconstructed the streets of Zhibek Zholy, Panfilov, Abay and Abylay Khan avenues, that is, 60% of the historic center of the city. The park of the First President of Kazakhstan, located at the picturesque foot of the Alatau in the upper part of the city, has long been a favorite resting place for citizens and guests of the city. Here in 2011, at the initiative of Almaty residents, a monument to Nursultan Nazarbayev was built as a token of gratitude, ”the city’s governor added.

According to the mayor of Almaty, over the past two days, during the event held in the city, representatives of various nationalities approached him and with great warmth expressed gratitude to Elbasy. The universal feeling of unity, common values that united all of us into one big friendly family - this is the visible result of the State course of Elbasy, Bauyrzhan Baybek said.

“Our First President is the true Leader of the nation who revived the age-old traditions of our people, its national cultural code. The concepts of Almaty - Elbasy - Independence are inseparable. It was in Almaty that the fateful pages of the history of the formation of independent Kazakhstan were written in golden letters. Here, Nursultan Nazarbayev signed a number of key documents that laid the foundation for a strong, democratic state and Elbasy told that, Almaty would forever remain the golden cradle of independence, ”he stressed.

In his speech to the townspeople, Bauyrzhan Baybek noted that the First President of Kazakhstan always treats Almaty with special attention and care. Today, thanks to its support, the city is the driving force of the country's economy, a developed business center in terms of investment and tourism.

“Once, Elbasy said:“ Almaty is a native city for me. Almaty is love, youth. I always take care of Almaty as my duty. ” Almaty residents always remember these heartfelt words, ”the city’s governor concluded.

It is worth noting that on the same day, Almaty Mayor together with the townspeople took part in the celebration of Nauryz, walking along the pedestrian Panfilov Street. Only today, more than 300 thousand people have already visited the holiday, including more than 500 tourists from Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Belarus and others. The celebration of the Nauryz Holiday in Almaty will last for a month and will include more than 80 events.
