This year more than 600 km of engineering networks will be modernized in Almaty

During a recent meeting with regional governors, President Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev emphasized the need to address systemic issues of an infrastructural nature that directly affect the quality of life of the population. These are problems in the housing and utilities sector - heat and water supply, water disposal, roads, gasification, environmental and safety issues.

In order to modernize the municipal infrastructure of the city, in the last few years alone, almost 2,000 kilometers of utilities have been repaired. This year it is planned to build and repair another 618 km, including 160 km of electric, 223 km of gas and 10 km of heat networks. To provide high-quality water supply and sanitation for more than 52 thousand citizens, the construction of 120 km of water supply system and 105 km of sewage will be completed.

A design and estimate documentation is being developed for the construction in the Nauryzbay district of 107.5 km of water pipelines and 81 km of water disposal, two Aksay and Kargaly filtration filter stations. A design and estimate documentation has already been developed for the construction of networks in Kuramys Tauzholy and Zhailau microdistricts. The implementation of these projects will begin this year and will provide almost 140 thousand residents with quality water.

In order to provide water and sewage systems to more than 28 thousand residents of the annexed territories, construction and reconstruction of 560 km of utilities was previously started. At the same time, on the basis of commission visits and appeals of citizens, a number of facts were recorded through the electronic public reception of the executive committee“Open Almaty”, when contractors did not ensure proper execution and quality of work.

The governor of the city instructed to establish strict control by the relevant departments and to eliminate the comments already within this month, and to transfer the objects from last year to July 30.

At the same time, in order to ensure the safety of citizens during the work, all contractors must install special barriers and walkways, detour signs and passports with all contact information. Specific dates, number of equipment and workers have already been determined for each site. In the case of non-compliance with standards, serious penalties will be applied to contractors.

In addition to the already established feedback channels, the governor of Almaty proposed to create in each yard, together with the residents, special chat groups in popular messengers, where responsible representatives of district executive committees, offices and contractors will be added for prompt processing of requests.

It should be reminded that earlier at a meeting of the city bureau of the Nur Otan party, Bauyrzhan Baybek ordered to step up work on the improvement, construction and repair of roads on the outskirts of the megalopolis. Thus, repair and construction of roads on more than 440 streets with a length of almost 120 km will be started in Alatau district in the residential areas “Abulak”, “Karasu”, “Ulzhan-2”, “Algabas-AZTM”, “Aigerim-1”, “Aigerim” 2”, “Ulzhan-1”, “Shanyrak-1”, “Shakyrak-2”, “Tomiris”, “Darkhan-Baybesik” and “Kuk Kainar”.

In addition, in all areas of the city it is planned to repair more than 680 yards, covering 50% of all urban high-rises. From mid-April, an average repair of more than 120 streets and the planting of 12 thousand trees from local nurseries are scheduled. On the outskirts of the city, a number of parks, squares and pedestrian zones will be landscaped.

In general, 60% of the historical center, almost 600 streets and more than 1,400 old courtyards have already been repaired in the metropolis adopted in 2015 after discussing with the townspeople the Almaty 2020 Development Program in the city.
