Planting of perennial and annual ornamental plants has begun in Almaty. The total area of decorative and flower gardening will be 159,000 square meters, including the planned sowing of a lawn of 26,000 square meters.
Roses, echinacea, columbus, abba, lavender, sage, geranium, hydrangea and other ornamental plants are planted in the city. In roadside areas, annual flowers are used to replace them with bulbs after the summer bloom, which will bloom at the beginning of the next season.
Specialists plant both bulbous, perennial and annual flowers. A phased transition to perennial plants is currently underway. Today, their share in the total volume of flower gardening is 17%, in 2023 this figure will reach 60%.
Flowers are selected depending on climatic conditions, the size and shape of the flower bed and their decorative effect. This year, perennials will be planted until May 15, annuals until June 10, and bulbous plants from October to November.
This year, it is planned to intensify the work on watering green spaces throughout the city. In total, within the public-private partnership project, about 400 people and more than 50 pieces of equipment are involved in the decorative landscaping of the city.
