Six new parks will open in Almaty
Six parks will be built on the outskirts of Almaty. Most of them will open in the Alatau district, at microdistrict Zerdeli, Boraldai, Sayaly, Ozhet, as well in Medeu district, namely microdistrict Alatau, and Nauryzbai districts along the Kargaly embankment. New parks will be equipped with children's and sports grounds, as well as the recreational areas. Those plans and issues were presented during a press tour for the media.
Today the city has 211 park areas with a total area of 631.2 hectares. Currently, work is taken to improve, repair and reconstruct eight facilities that include parks, squares and etc. One of the facilities is North Square behind the KBTU building, where they planned to reconstruct the fountain only. However, the survey showed entire square to be worn out. As a result, they decided to reconstruct the entire territory. The project provides for sanitary pruning of trees, landscaping, renewal of paving stones, outdoor lighting, as well as the installation of video cameras for the safety of residents and guests. All work is scheduled to be completed in October 2022.
The pedestrian zone along Baiseitova Street from Satpayev to Zhambyl Streets will be equipped with sports facilities, playgrounds, benches, trash cans, outdoor lighting, etc. Currently, work has been temporarily suspended due to violations of the contractor. During the work, the company specialists damaged the root system of about 10 trees. In the near future, it is planned meet the public to discuss problems in this area.
Last year, Druzhba park in the Bostandyk district with a total area of 3.4 hectares was renewed. As part of the reconstruction, the pavement was updated, benches and bins were installed, outdoor lighting and a watering system were installed, a workout and a children's playground were built.
They also plan to build walking areas in each area remote from the city center. The park in Boraldai will be equipped just as Terenkur, and a youth park in Zerdeli will change by analogy with the Central Park of Culture.
Currently there are problems with the maintenance of parks and public gardens of the city. To resolve this issue they proposed to transfer the the maintenance of parks and squares of the city, as well as control to a single operator - Eco Almaty LLP.
Earlier akim of Almaty Erbolat Dossaev checked the works on the improvement of the Zheltoksan park. During his inspection he criticized the quality of laying paving slabs - on almost all footpaths, the paving stones sank, crevices, chips and cracks were noticeable. He remark regarding the technology of surface treatment of wooden bench complexes - the paint is coming off even before the entire facility is put into operation.

- "Zheltoksan Park " in microdistrict Mayak in the Turksib district;
- embankment along the Esentai riverbed in md. Kokmaisa in the Zhetysu district;
- a square near Schoolchildren's Palace in the Medeu district;
- "North Square " behind KBTU in Almaly district;
- Baiseitov pedestrian zone from the street. Satpaev to st. Zhambyl;
- improvement of ponds in Almaty Zoological Park;
- water protection strip and bed of the Esentai river along Zhamakaev st. in the Medeu district;
- reconstruction of the Zharbulak riverbed;
- pedestrian zone along Baiseitova street.
