Paid parking are returned back to the city property

In order to demonopolize parking areas and to reimburse the alleged charges, the company board proposed Almaty akimat to return 70% stake in Almaty SpetsTechParking Service LLP and a 100% stake in Alan Parking LLP to the city ownership.

«Almaty special technical parking service» LLP is a single operator in servicing pavement parkings located in 5 districts of the city (Almaly, Bostandyk, Zhetysu, Medeu, Turksib). Akimat owns 30% stake in this LLP.

LLP "Alan Parking" is a single operator for servicing parking lots located in 3 districts (Alatau, Bostandyk, Zhetysu). It was privately owned.

In accordance with the current legislation, Akimat of Almaty adopted a resolution on the return of shares of the above companies. Today, the paid parking system is functioning normally. According to the Decree, all income from the activities of paid parking from April 25 this year will be directed to the city budget.

Currently, the city akimat is planning to appoint a single operator for the city parking zone. Considering deadlines permits reception established by the current legislation, as well as the need to coordinate it with the antimonopoly authorities, a single operator will be created before August 1, 2022.

We will take up and implement complex actions to improve the parking services quality based on complaints from residents of Almaty.

 In the future, it is planned to keep of the urban parking lots up with international experience and the direct profit to improve streets and courtyards. Also, we priorititize construction of multi-storey parking lots in the city to solve the accumulated problems.

The paid parking system in Almaty was first introduced in 2016. According to the above companies reports, the annual financial turnover from paid parking is 1.4 billion tenge on average.

 

Currently, a criminal case and an investigation on budget funds theft has been initiated against the heads of companies. The prosecutor's office of Almaty submitted on the illegal actions of the company.
