The governor of Medeu district of Almaty city has been appointed

Sultanbek Makezhanov began his working activity in 1983 as a roadman, worked as a surveyor engineer, a construction site foreman. From 1985 to 1990, he held senior positions in the district and city committees of the Komsomol of Kazakhstan in Almaty. In 1990-2002 he worked in the private sector. He was a deputy chairman of Astana Holding Bank, Vice President of Kazakhinvest Corporation.

He has extensive experience in government. He has held the posts of head of the governor’s staff, deputy governor of Mangystau region. Since 2005 he has been working in the city of Almaty. He was deputy chief of staff of the city governor, head of the department of natural resources and environmental management, the governor of Medeu district.

From May 2016 he was deputy governor of Almaty.

Medeu district is a scientific, educational and cultural center of the city. Here are the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, the Palace of the Republic, the State Central Museum, the largest parks, cinemas, places of leisure for citizens and tourists. In this regard, the district governor first needs to pay attention to the improvement, landscaping, cleanliness in the central streets, squares and parks, as well as the architectural appearance of buildings. It should be noted that this year in the area there are plans to build 7 parks and squares, repair 100 courtyards, upgrade Dostyk avenue and Aiteke bi street.

However, the area still has housing estates without access to the central water supply and sewerage. This is the Kamenskoye Plateau residential area (1500 houses), Baikonurskaya street (11 multi-storey residential buildings) and the md. Butakovka (250 houses), where about 8 thousand people are not connected. The governor of the district together with the Office of Energy Efficiency is necessary to take measures to address the issue of construction of water supply and sewerage networks to these residential areas. In md Duman, where about 30 thousand people live, this year has completed the laying of utilities, but the asphalt pavement remains unrepaired. The governor of the district together with the Office of Urban Mobility need to solve the issue of restoring 23 km of the roadway and 10 km of the pavement.

In addition, the district governor, together with the Education Department, should intensify work on the construction of schools, including with the involvement of entrepreneurs in the framework of PPP.

In general, over the past three years, wholesale trade in the Medeu district has grown by 50%, investment in fixed assets by 49%, tax revenues by 36%. The reconstruction of Nazarbayev Avenue, Abay, Dostyk Avenue, Gogol Street, Kabanbai Batyr Street, “Abai” Square, Central Park of Culture and Recreation has been completed, the repair of the Zoo is being completed.
