The start of the 1st round of anti-tick treatment in Almaty

The first round of anti-tick treatment has started in Almaty on April 5, 2022 on the forest and park areas with 2424.54 hectares in total. The treatment will cover 8 forest parks (1904.924 hectares) and 144 city parks and squares (519.616 hectares). It is scheduled from April 05 to May 05, 2022, considering weather conditions (only dry, non-rainy weather). To achieve maximum results in the fight against ixodid ticks, treatment is carried out in 2 rounds. Round 2 will be held in May-June 2022.

Disinsection is carried out by the branch of the RSE on the REM "Disinfection Center in Almaty" under the direct supervision of specialists from the city sanitary and epidemiological control. Teams have all the necessary equipment, transport, and personal protection tools. For treatment they use "Favorit". This preparation is a low-toxic and low-hazard substance of class 3-4. The doses used for tick control are the smallest and completely safe for humans and animals. Processing is mainly carried out in the morning. At the borders of involved areas, they installed boards that warn passerby telling “Anti-tick treatment is being carried out”.

Citizens must follow the rules:

• Avoid areas of anti-tick treatment and stay away from area where preparation can reach the skin or cloth;
• Do not let pets out to the treated areas before preparation dries out;
• For 40 days after treatment do not collect or eat mushrooms, grass or fruits from the involved areas;

Do not attend parks, squares and natural objects during the treatment period and 3 days after it.
