The Department of the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the city of Almaty, based on the results of price monitoring, established signs of a speculative increase in sugar prices.
At the moment, requests have been sent to major suppliers in order to determine the share of dominance of market entities. Appropriate action will be taken as a result of the antitrust proceedings.
The Antimonopoly Department urges not to succumb to the hype and warns that speculative price increases as a result of anti-competitive agreements, concerted actions, and abuse of dominant position entail a fine of 3-5% of income with confiscation of monopoly income (net profit).
