Over the past five years, the incidence of tuberculosis in the metropolis has decreased by more than 34%. This was announced during a press conference of the Regional Communications Service of Almaty by the director of the Phthisiopulmonology Center of the Public Health Department of the city Zhanar Sapiyeva.
According to the speaker, the city is experiencing a decrease in the incidence rate, and the main indicators are below the national average. If in 2017, a little more than 35 cases of the disease were registered per 100 thousand of the population, then in 2021, there are already 23 cases. In addition, over the past 5 years, the mortality rate has decreased by 63.8%.
The Center for Phthisiopulmonology conducted an analysis that showed that the main reason for the decrease in incidence was a sharp decrease in the detection of cases of tuberculosis among internal migrants from adjacent regions of the city during the period of restrictions associated with the pandemic.
So, if in 2019 the number of detected cases of tuberculosis among internal migrants was 168 people, then in 2020 - 58 cases, a decrease of 2.5 times.
Zhanar Sapiyeva said that outpatient treatment coverage is increasing every year in Almaty.
“Every day, 8 mobile groups leave on a separate vehicle to conduct controlled treatment at home among patients with disabilities, the elderly and women with young children,” said the Director of the Center.
Zh. Sapiyeva added that all patients receive benefits in the amount of 35 thousand tenge until the end of the course of treatment, thanks to the support of local executive bodies. This year, the volume of social assistance has grown by 6.6%, and 830 patients are currently receiving assistance.
Speaking about the Tuberculosis month in Almaty, Zhanar Sapiyeva said that more than 40 medical institutions would organize open days.
