Information on snow removal in the city of Almaty February 15, 2022
In the city of Almaty, a record amount of snow fell during the winter period: 17-20 cm of snow in the city (as of 9.30), in the foothill areas up to 35 cm, in the mountains up to 50 cm.
In order to prevent the icing phenomena from 24:00, roads are sprinkled with anti-icing materials (AGM). From 3:30 a.m snow shoveling columns were organized, accompanied by patrol cars of the traffic police. In order to organize unhindered passage of vehicles, during the morning rush hour on the main streets and in the upper part of the city, snow was raked three times.
The work on mechanized and manual cleaning of sidewalks, pedestrian zones, public transport stops, and public places has been intensified.
As of 9.30 am, 450 m3 of snow has been removed.
In total, 616 units of special equipment are involved in snow removal, 1463 road workers, 3050 tons of anti-icing materials were used.
In the district akimats, round-the-clock duty is organized to control the production of work.
According to the forecast of Kazhydromet, snowfall will end in the first half of the day on February 15. The air temperature during the day on February 15 is 0-3 degrees below zero.
