The SME Compensation Commission approved 39 more applications from entrepreneurs in Almaty
At the meeting of the Regional Commission for Compensation of Damage to SMEs dated February 6, 2022, 39 applications were approved for a total amount of 85.7 million tenge, of which 5 applications for the amount of 8.4 million tenge were financed from the budget, 34 applications for the amount of 77.3 million tenge from the funds of the “Zhana Alatau” Charitable Foundation.

In total, since the beginning of the Commission's work, 260 applications for the amount of 456.1 million tenge have been approved, of which 108 applications for 157.1 million tenge from the budget, 152 applications for 299 million tenge from the fund. First of all, applications from micro- and small businesses with payments of up to 5 million tenge are promptly considered.

The Regional Commission continues to make adjustments to the current Business Indemnity Mechanism. So, if earlier, at the suggestion of the Regulatory Commission, compensation included the costs of the services of private auditors and appraisers, now the costs of private lawyers for conducting a forensic examination can also be paid at the expense of budgetary funds.

“According to the current norms of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the preparation of materials for a forensic examination is allowed not only by the investigator, but also by a lawyer upon his request. Considering the high workload of investigators at the present time, in order to speed up the forensic examination and receive compensation payments, we offer entrepreneurs affected by the riots to contact the services of private lawyers. Now entrepreneurs can pay for these services at their own expense, but we are developing a proposal to include the costs of lawyer services in compensation for damages at the expense of budgetary funds. This measure will expand the provision of state support to the affected businesses and accelerate the subsequent recovery of the city economy,” said Yerkebulan Orazalin, Chairman of the Regional Commission for Compensation of Damage to SMEs, Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Investments of Almaty City.
