Akim of the city of Almaty Y. Dossayev discussed with business the issues of accelerating the payment of damages

Akim of the city of Almaty Y. Dossayev met with entrepreneurs and representatives of businesses that suffered during the tragic January events. During the meeting, the Head of the city discussed with business the issues of accelerating payments and compensation for damages.

Earlier, the Regional Commission identified shortcomings in the mechanism for compensation for damage and made its specific proposals. On February 1, 2022, the proposals of the akimat were promptly agreed with the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and approved at the level of the government commission. Corresponding changes and additions to the Rules for compensation for damage will be made today.
The main improvements relate to property damage in terms of inventory, now there is a mechanism for compensating damage also for damaged real estate, movable property, lost equipment that cannot be restored under a simplified mechanism with a maximum payment amount of up to 5 million tenge. This will significantly expand the coverage of affected business entities and speed up the payment of compensation. Also, along with funds from the state budget, payments from private funds are now provided. Work to improve the compensation process is ongoing.
Recall, that the affected entrepreneurs will also be exempted from utility bills for 3 months, tenants of municipal property of the city - from rent for 6 months. Additionally, under the city program "Almaty Business-2025", businessmen will be provided with a preferential loan for replenishment of working capital up to 10 million tenge at 2% per annum for 12 months on bail or a partial guarantee of SEC "Almaty".  LLP “Almaty Finance” and LLP “MFO Almaty” will provide affected entrepreneurs with a deferment to repay the principal debt, cancel fines and penalties for up to 180 days.
