Dear Almaty residents!
By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Tokayev K.K. A curfew has been introduced in the city of Almaty.
Law enforcement officers, law enforcement agencies, the National Guard, as well as units of the Ministry of Defense, which guard the law, the constitutional rights of citizens and ensure public safety, are involved in ensuring law and order.
According to the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On the state of emergency”, measures and temporary restrictions are provided for the period of its validity, which are subject to strict observance.
For violation of the requirements of the state of emergency, liability is provided in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
I urge citizens to strictly follow these requirements and treat with understanding the measures taken to curb destruction, looting and extremism.
Unfortunately, on the night of January 5, extremist groups became more active. As a result of their illegal actions, over 120 vehicles were burned, including 33 police cars, ambulances, fire trucks. Business suffered: 120 shops and trade facilities, 180 catering establishments, about 100 SME offices were broken. More than 500 civilians were beaten, including 130 women and old people.
Today the city has been subjected to new attacks by extremists and radicals.
Necessary measures are being taken to protect the life and safety of citizens.
We call on those who took to the streets to disperse. Our main goal is to prevent the further escalation of violence and radicalism.
I urge residents and guests of the city to stay at home, not to panic and not to succumb to provocations, to be guided by information from official sources and to respect the Laws of our state.
