Almaty schoolchildren will study online

The Head of the Department of Education of the city, Lyazzat Zhylkybayeva, during a meeting of the City headquarters for the restoration of life support of Almaty, reported on the readiness for the educational process in educational organizations.

860 preschool organizations (190 public and 670 private) with a total coverage of more than 71 thousand children have temporarily suspended their work since January 5, due to the current situation in the city.

According to the Head of the Department of Education, it is planned to resume the work of kindergartens from January 20 after the end of the state of emergency. At the same time, the epidemiological situation in the city will be taken into account without fail, so it is possible that kindergartens will work in the mode of duty groups. Explanatory work among parents and employees will be additionally organized on the order of work of preschool institutions.

“Today, the issue of financing preschool institutions during the state of emergency remains open, in particular, we are talking about a state order placed in 519 private kindergartens for 30,640 places, as well as in 173 state ones,” Zhylkybaeva said.

The Head of the Education department recalled, that the winter holidays in schools were extended until January 17, in colleges - until January 24. Due to the worsening epidemiological situation in the city, on January 17, schoolchildren began to study remotely.

“We already have experience of working remotely, last year teachers took digital literacy courses. All conditions have been created to organize the educational process, parents, if they need computers or laptops, or need to connect to the Internet, can contact the school principal or district education departments, where they will be assisted in resolving these issues,” said Lyazzat Zhylkybayeva.

More than 73,000 Almaty students from 83 colleges will start classes from January 24, a mixed learning format is provided for them: lecture classes will be held online, and practical classes will be organized offline, according to a flexible schedule in compliance with sanitary requirements.
