New director has been appointed at Almaty Zoo

In recent years, the zoo has changed noticeably, and the number of guests has increased by 42%, the company's rentability by 20%. Improvement of the territory and places for pets was carried out, including 11 winter roads repaired, a new enclosure for polar bears, Amur tigers, tapirs, aquarium, etc. was built. According to the city governor, these results would not have been possible without the effective work of the previous zoo directors Yerzhan Yerkinbaev and Aigul Tuleyeva and the continued support of philanthropists.

“We very carefully selected the candidature of the new director, since the further development of the zoo largely depends on his personal and professional qualities. Vyacheslav Banchikov is a native Almaty citizen, born, studied and lives in Almaty. He is a permanent philanthropist, is engaged in charity work and has already done a lot for the city, ”said Bauyrzhan Baybek.

The new director has been assigned a number of tasks to further develop the zoo. So, as soon as possible, the institution should be included in the list of members of the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums EAZA. In due time it is necessary to complete the construction and improvement of enclosures for leopards, bears and wolves. In addition, it is necessary to build a new vet clinic in the zoo, equipped with modern equipment, to design and implement a program of reconstruction of ponds. An important task is to conduct a complete reconstruction and improvement of the pedestrian part of the zoo. In addition, it is required to start the work of the farm to provide pets with own production.
